Casino Deposit Methods in the UK — Comparison 2026
The deposit method you choose affects more than convenience: it can determine how quickly your balance is credited, whether you pay fees, whether you qualify for a welcome offer and how you will receive your winnings later.
Players in the UK can choose from a wide range of options: debit cards such as Visa and Mastercard, e-wallets like PayPal and Skrill, mobile wallets including Apple Pay and Google Pay, bank transfers and Open Banking payments, and pay-by-mobile services that add deposits to your phone bill. Some methods mentioned online are rarely available to UK players or have been discontinued, and our guides say so clearly.
UK rules shape the options. Since April 2020, casinos licensed by the Gambling Commission have not been allowed to accept credit card payments for gambling, including e-wallet payments funded with a credit card. Licensed operators must also verify your age and identity before you can gamble. Most casinos also pay withdrawals back to your deposit method where possible, so choose one that supports cash-outs.

How quickly are casino deposits credited?
Debit card, e-wallet, mobile wallet and Open Banking deposits are usually credited almost instantly, while standard bank transfers can take longer because casinos process them manually. Delays are most often caused by extra security checks or first-time verification, so completing your identity checks early helps deposits and later withdrawals go smoothly.
Do I have to pay fees when depositing?
Many UKGC-licensed casinos do not charge for deposits, but some payment providers apply their own fees, for example for currency conversion when you fund in a non-GBP currency. Check both the cashier terms and your provider’s fee schedule, and remember that some e-wallets charge a small percentage when you later withdraw to your bank.
How We Assess Deposit Methods
- Speed — how quickly the deposit appears in your casino balance.
- Fees — whether the casino, the payment provider or your bank may charge for the transaction.
- Security — encryption, two-factor authentication and whether card or bank details are shared with the casino.
- Limits — typical minimum and maximum deposit amounts and any daily caps.
- Availability and withdrawals — whether the method is offered at UKGC-licensed casinos and whether it can also be used to cash out.
Deposit Fees, Card Rules and Withdrawals
Can I deposit with a credit card at UK casinos?
No. Casinos licensed by the Gambling Commission are not permitted to accept credit cards for gambling, a ban in force since 14 April 2020, and this also applies to e-wallets funded with a credit card. Debit cards, e-wallets, bank transfers and mobile wallets all remain available for UK players.
Can I withdraw using the same method I deposited with?
Often, yes. Debit cards, many e-wallets and bank transfers support withdrawals, while pay-by-mobile and some prepaid options are deposit-only, so the casino will ask for another method, usually a bank transfer. Operators also return winnings to your deposit method up to the amount you paid in, under anti-money-laundering rules.
